What a visual schedule actually does
Every repeated morning instruction ("shoes! SHOES!") is you serving as your kid's working memory. A visual schedule externalizes that: the sequence lives on the wall, the kid consults the wall, and the parent's voice stops being the delivery system. Ages 4-7: cards they can move
At this age, a printed line of text is furniture. What works is a physical card per step - a picture card the kid flips over, moves down a column, or re-sticks - because the movement IS the checkmark.
